3 Operational Intelligence Insights
1) It's not about time saved in minutes and hours, it's about where information lives: In a recent Operator Spotlight, we spoke with Fernando Salazar, Facilities Coordinator at STACK Real Estate, to get the perspective of an on-site engineers. For him, technology's value is in knowing exactly where to look to find information. When information is difficult to find, operators tend to get distracted by the latest call or emergency and it ends up taking a week or more to get your answer. A central repository ensures that decisions can be made much faster.
2) Tenant experience and ESG are converging: For the last couple of years, tenant engagement has revolved around yoga classes and ordering coffee. But now that landlords are realizing that commercial tenants are struggling to report on their own utility and carbon emission data, it's clear that they've been delivering an awful experience for something that really matters. In Achieving ESG Goals Part II: Engaging Tenants, we cover what true tenant engagement looks like, and how that ties into larger carbon reduction goals.
3) A building can only run as efficiently as its engineer knows how to run it: As important as tenant engagement is, leading portfolios are realizing that operator engagement will be essential to reach carbon reduction goals. The problem is that they are still spending their days on reactive work orders, looking for information and walking the site. In Achieving ESG Goals Part I: Operator Performance, we show what it looks like to provide value upfront, so they have the time to focus on optimization.
